Scrubby Dishcloths

Updated: Aug 23, 2021

These little scrubby dishcloths were a project I started when I found the super fun Lily Sugar n' Cream Scrub Off yarn. I started with a whole bunch of holiday colors with the idea of making these for Christmas gifts.

Before I gave any away, I put them to the test. I didn't want to give a gift that would just fall apart so I scrubbed dishes. Then I threw the dish cloths in the washer and dryer on full heat, normal cycle, no special treatment. They came out of the dryer balled up, but they were easy to flatten back to their original shape.

The pattern by Maria's Blue Crayon makes the perfect dishcloth. It's double-sided making it thick and providing plenty of surface area for cleaning.

Since the yarn is 100% cotton it's machine washable and dryer safe. I'm not a fan of traditional sponges because research shows the typical kitchen sponge actually contains quite a bit of bacteria.

These dishcloths are actually less expensive than a pack of sponges, but have the advantage of being completely reusable.

New colors are always coming to the shop. Stock up so you'll always have a fresh one for your next batch of dishes.
