Frequently asked questions
All items in the shop are handmade and may have slight variations in color or size. This variation is part of the unique nature of a handmade item. Variagated yarns, such as those used in the cotton dish cloths have varying lengths of scrubby and cotton material, as well as varying lengths of different colors. This will give each dish cloth a unique appearance and sometimes a slightly different size.
Yes! However, I reserve the right to decline a commission request. This is due to various reasons. Commission items like sweaters and blankets or other large handmade items may not be possible at times or in certain time frames. I am a full-time teacher and my available time for making can vary greatly by the time of the year. The best time to request custom orders is during the summer.
Please be aware that a commissioned item will factor in the cost of materials and labor. This can make particular handmade items very expensive, but handmade items are high-quality, luxury items that are well worth the cost.
Take for example the $700 cardigan:
This item took 3 weeks to craft, at approximately 3 hours per day. The cost of the yarn included, this sweater would cost $700.
In general hand crafted items should be washed either by hand or on a cold, gentle machine cycle, and should then lay flat to dry. The gentler the wash and detergent, the longer your item will last.
Luxury Beanies
Luxury beanies are made of 100% wool and should be maintained carefully. Fortunately because of the natural fibers and breathability, you won't need to wash your beanie often, but when you do make it a gentle hand wash in cold water with a gentle detergent like a baby shampoo.
To dry your beanie, remove it from the water, place in a towel, and gently squeeze (do not twist or wring) to remove excess water. Lay flat to dry.
Classic Beanies
Classic beanies are made of wool and acrylic blends making them a bit more hearty and ready for a wash. While these beanies are machine washable, a hand wash will help maintain shape and keep your beanie beautiful. Follow the same steps as a luxury beanie for the best results.
Bottle Bags
Our bottle bags are made in cotton or cotton blend and can hold up to a gentle cycle in the washer, or a hand wash. To retain shape and get the most out of your bag, let it air dry.
Cotton Dish Cloths
These dish cloths can withstand a lot. Feel free to throw them into your normal wash cycle and dry on medium to high heat. Dishcloth size and shape can be expected to change a bit after a machine dry. The stitches will pull closer together, but the dish cloths will still look as good and work as well as they did before.
Scrunchies, Pumpkins, and Gnomes
Because these items are made with polyfil or with a faux fur, they don't lend themselves to easy washing. Fortunately, these items are ones you won't be looking to wash. If they do get dirty, try a surface clean and air dry.
Yes! Wholesale orders from small stores are welcome. Because of the nature of handmade items, please allow plenty of time for your items to be handmade. Please allow up to 12 weeks for a wholesale order, depending on the items.
The minimum order for an initial wholesale order is $100. If you are interested in stocking your store with fall and winter favorites like hats, headbands/earwarmers, and farmhouse pumpkins, please plan to place your order by June 1 in order to receive your items by September 1.
