It took a long time for this design to make it here. When I finished the project, I was in love with the color, the stitch definition, and the size and weight of this mid-weight blanket. It was perfect for keeping the chill off, but it was a little too cumbersome for a wrap to wear indoors. I was almost ready to write this wrap off, and call it a fail.

Except, I found that I started grabbing this wrap before my kids' baseball and softball games. The cold spring weather and the strong winds made layers a must. After bringing it to the games so many times, I knew I'd been too hard on this design. A friend suggested calling it the Ballpark Blanket - an apt name to describe how I'd been using it.
The yarn I used, Lion Brand Retweed, is an amazing wool blend available in a variety of muted, natural hues with flecks of color. I used the peanut butter to achieve this wearable blanket that works with anything.
Besides being a warm layer, the Ballpark Blanket is large enough to put over a jacket or large sweatshirt. The arm openings make wearing it the perfect way to carry it, because who wants to carry a big blanket in their arms? Other features, like the spacious pockets make it perfect for carrying snacks from the concession stand. It also makes a perfect lap blanket if your legs are feeling the chill.
Knit primarily in stockinette, this make is a meditative project that you can do without devoting too much attention away from a movie or favorite show. One by one ribbing around the edges gives it a polished look. Knitted in one piece and split at the shoulders, this blanket needs minimal seaming. The best part? Lion Brand just brought back ReTweed in 8 colors - and they run all kinds of sales so you can get a great price.
